FLIR Launches Next-Generation Thermal Cameras for Firefighting: Meet the K75 and K85

THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS

FLIR has officially expanded its K-Series lineup with the introduction of the K75 and K85, two next-generation thermal imaging cameras designed specifically for the demanding conditions of firefighting and emergency response.

Built to deliver superior image clarity, streamlined usability, and reliable wireless data management, the new K-Series models set a new benchmark for performance in extreme environments.

Enhanced Resolution and Simplified Operation

The FLIR K75 and K85 feature upgraded thermal sensors, offering up to 640 × 480 resolution for sharper, more detailed imagery. Both models are equipped with single-range dynamic gain, eliminating the need to switch between high and low-gain modes, a change that simplifies use and ensures uninterrupted situational awareness.

Firefighters can now view critical details in the heat of the moment without toggling between settings, saving precious seconds when visibility is limited.

Wireless Connectivity for Smarter Operations

Connectivity is at the core of the new design. The K75 and K85 come with built-in Wi-Fi, enabling live streaming, configuration, and data downloads through the FLIR Responder app. This makes post-incident analysis, training, and reporting faster and more efficient, helping teams learn, adapt, and perform at their best.

Both cameras are supplied with essential accessories, including two batteries, a charger, power supply, USB cable, carabiner strap, and retractable lanyard. Optional extras include a hard transport case and in-vehicle charging system for on-the-go readiness.

Rugged Design for Frontline Demands

Designed for frontline use, both cameras feature a rugged IP67-rated housing, 2-meter drop resistance, and optimized heat tolerance for dependable operation in the harshest firefighting conditions.

As Peter Dekkers, Director of Business Development at FLIR, explains:

“The K75 and K85 are engineered for reliable thermal visibility in low-light, no-light, and smoke-obscured environments, benefitting not just fire departments, but also those in industrial safety, maritime, and defense sectors.”

Application-Specific Firefighting Modes

FLIR has built in several operation-specific modes to support every stage of an incident response:

  • Preparation Mode: Configure wirelessly and stream for readiness checks.

  • Search Mode: Highlights temperature contrasts between 80°C and 200°C for locating hotspots and victims.

  • Fire Attack Mode: Operates across a −20°C to 650°C range to monitor intense fire conditions.

  • Overhaul Mode: Uses red gradients to highlight heat retention and track temperature changes over time.

Additional viewing options, including basic, high-heat, and white-hot modes, support different tactical operations, from smoke diving to training exercises.

Built for Clarity, Safety, and Control

With a thermal sensitivity below 60 mK, 53° × 40° field of view, and 30 Hz image frequency, the K75 and K85 deliver precise, fluid imaging under pressure. The streamlined pistol-grip design also minimizes sharp edges to reduce soot and dust buildup during cleanup.

These updates mark a major step forward for thermal imaging in fire and safety, giving professionals clearer visibility and more intelligent tools for real-time decision-making.

New! The FLIR Responder App*

Providing critical support to firefighters before, during, and after the mission

The new FLIR Responder app offers fire crews greater control over their TICs, greater visibility during the mission, and most importantly, a greater opportunity for training before and after a fire.

  • At the fire station: Configure your camera and keep your camera current with over-the-air updates.
  • During fire training: Bridge the gap between the classroom and "live burn" training through wireless streaming from the camera to the app, providing visibility across wider groups.
  • After the mission: Easily transfer images and videos collected at the scene for analysis, reporting, and more training.

*Available through the Apple store and through Google Play (October).
